CAMILLE STYLES' 2018 GUIDE
TO AUSTIN’S BEST RESTAURANTS
I don't know this lifestyle writer, but we have the same taste in restaurants! You can't go wrong with any site on this list: it's sure to be Austin-specific, delicious, and super fun, so choose whatever looks tastiest or is closest to what you're doing or fits your budget and you'll be happy. ( One more no-fail recommendation I'd make that opened since she made her list is Fareground, an upscale food court/picnic hill at the corner of Cesar Chavez (1st) and Congress, when you have a group who can't decide what they want and the best answer is EVERYTHING.)
BEST THINGS TO DO IN AUSTIN, according to 365AUSTIN
Swim at Barton Springs (even if it's cold),check out the Capitol,,see the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, Stand-up Paddle, run or bike the Ladybird Lake Trail...
PERFECT LONG WEEKEND IN AUSTIN
Lots of good suggestions in curated, close-together clumps.
WACKY AND WEIRD THINGS TO DO IN AUSTIN
Yes, we do in fact keep it weird! Amazingly, doesn't include information about Little Ginny's Longhorn Saloon's Chicken Shit Bingo, but I can fix that, HERE.
SHOPPING SOCO
Great suggestions for nearby local shopping - ooh, Allen's Boots! Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds! Uncommon Objects! but leaves out three of our favorites: Tesoros (international import gifts), Blackmail (all-black fashion by local and cutting edge designers), and Creatures (ladylike goodies).
BEST BARTENDERS (AND THE BEST BARS...)
Whisler's is a particular favorite of ours...Doesn't mention Easy Tiger, fun place to hang out, because that's mostly about beer, but it's especially close to our hotels.
THE 20 ESSENTIAL AUSTIN BREAKFAST TACOS
We have a friend who used to fly in from London purely for breakfast tacos. Here's why!
TOUR OF THE BEST BBQ BRISKET IN AUSTIN
That's what Texas BBQ is all about, here - charred, smokey, gorgeous, fall-apart "moist" brisket that you COULD put sauce on, but shouldn't have to. You're allowed to have sausage and ribs and even chicken, if you must, but brisket is the THING.
Restaurants you won't find at home: Olamaie, Uchiko, Uchi, Launderette, Justine's, Dai Due, Contigo, Takoba, Chuy's
And food trucks! Because Austin: Gourdough's Doughnuts, Llama's Peruvian, and Chi'Lantro
